CIFTI-FICCI regulatory stakeholder Consultation Meeting

CIFTI-FICCI Stakeholder Consultation Meeting chaired by Mr. Sanjay Khajuria, President-CIFTI was held on 22nd November 2017 at Conference Room, FICCI, Federation House. More than 70 participants attended the consultation meeting.


Agenda for the meeting was as follows
  • To create awareness among industry stakeholders on Common Nutrition Criteria (CNC)
  • Draft Regulation on Food Safety and Standards (Safe and Wholesome Food for School Children) Regulations, 2017
  • FSSAI Draft (Advertisements and Claims Regulations) & Draft FSS (Packaging Regulations)

    • In order to create awareness among industry stakeholders on Common Nutrition Criteria (CNC) Ms. Madhavi Trivedi (Kellogg's India) gave a brief presentation on the Common Nutrition Criteria (CNC). It was made clear during the deliberation that the intent of CNC is to advertise products to children under the age of 12 years that meet Common Nutrition Criteria (CNC). Further it doesn't restrict a company to manufacture product with any desired formulation. Presently, CNC is signed by nine multinational companies. Many questions were raised during the meeting which were well addressed and taken up jointly by Ms. Madhavi and Mr. Sanjay Khajuria.
    • Draft Regulation on Food Safety and Standards (Safe and Wholesome Food for School Children) Regulations, 2017 was discussed and deliberated in the meeting and various concerns were raised.
    • Draft Food Safety and Standards (Advertisements and Claims) Regulations, 2017 and Draft Food Safety and Standards (Packaging) Regulations, 2017: Background about the Packaging, labeling and claims regulation were shared with the members. Many concerns were raised on procedure for approval of claims, missing of claims etc., so in this regard a working group was made which decided to work on the inputs on Advertisement and claims regulation. Members were requested to provide their inputs on packaging and Advertisement & claims regulation to FICCI.

CIFTI-FICCI and FIA seminar on 'Creating awareness among FBOs & SMEs on GDA labelling (Guideline Daily Amount) and emerging trends in Food Labelling ecosystem was held on 6th October 2017 at Conference Room, 2nd Floor, FICCI Federation House, New Delhi.

The welcome address was given by Dr. Sanjaya Baru, Secretary General, FICCI, while the opening address was given by Mr. Steven Bartholomeuz, Head of Communication and Advocacy, FIA. CIFTI-FICCI Executive Committee meeting was held on 24th March 2017 at Council Room, 3rd Floor, FICCI Federation House, New Delhi from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm. The formal proceeding of the Executive Committee meeting started by welcome address of CIFTI President, Mr. Sanjay Khajuria who welcomed the members and thanked them for joining this meeting. In meeting, members were apprised about details of CIFTI activities, initiatives and forthcoming events. Various policy and regulatory matters were also discussed.

FICCI had organized 10th edition of "FOODWORLD INDIA" on 10th November 2016 at Hotel Pride Plaza, Aerocity, New Delhi.

Highlights of FICCI FoodWorld India 2016: The Global Convention for Food Business & Industry

FICCI with the support of Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), Government of India and Food Safety Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), organized the 10th edition of FICCI FOODWORLD INDIA on 10th November 2016 at Hotel Pride Plaza, Aerocity, New Delhi. The theme for this year conference was "Creating Successful National Mega-Brands in Food Industry". The event was attended by more than 150 delegates from India and abroad and was represented by industry, academia and government. Food Industry Asia and CIFTI were the supporting partner for the event.

The welcome address was given by Dr. A Didar Singh, Secretary General, FICCI, while the opening address was given by Ms. Sangeeta Pendurkar, Chair- Food Processing Committee & MD of Kellogg India. Mr. Sanjay Sharma, Co-Chair Food Processing Committee & CEO, MTR Foods delivered vote of thanks.

CIFTI-FICCI General Regulatory meeting was held on 22 February 2016 at Conference Room, 2nd Floor, FICCI Federation House, New Delhi from 11.00 AM to 1.30 PM.
